Jeff Frederick is the 19th President of Drury University in Springfield, Missouri. He is passionate about the need for personalized education, treating students like a name and not a number, and graduating adaptable, critical thinking, problem solvers that can lead society into a bright future.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing, and masters and doctoral degrees in American History. As a scholar, Frederick is an historian of the twentieth-century American South and has published, taught, presented, and spoken on a variety of topics in this field. He has worked in private business including health care, and served in higher education for the last 23 years as professor, dean, provost, and president.
Outside of work, Frederick runs (more slowly each year), rarely passes up an open shot in half-court basketball, writes, reads, and enjoys grilling and smoking barbeque. Married to Melinda, he has three sons, Logan (wife Grace), Jack (wife Brittany and son Carter), and Quinton.
