About First Lady Sarah Stitt:
Sarah Stitt is a dedicated advocate for mental health awareness and community well-being, serving as Oklahoma’s First Lady alongside Governor Kevin Stitt. With 27 years of marriage and the experience of raising six children, Sarah’s commitment to family values profoundly influences her leadership and initiatives.
Prior to her role as First Lady, Sarah spent two decades at Gateway Mortgage, where she fostered a nurturing and growth-oriented work environment. Her leadership empowered employees, contributing to their personal and professional development.
As First Lady, Sarah has been at the forefront of mental health advocacy in Oklahoma. In 2021, she founded Hope Rising Oklahoma in collaboration with Dr. Chan Hellman from the University of Oklahoma’s Hope Research Center. This initiative promotes the science of hope, training state agencies and local organizations to implement transformative mental health principles. Recognizing the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on mental health, Sarah aims to connect resources with nonprofits to foster supportive relationships and create pathways to success for individuals affected by ACEs.
In addition to her work with Hope Rising Oklahoma, Sarah chairs the campaign for the Pediatric Behavioral Health Center at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital. This center addresses the critical mental health needs of children across the state, reinforcing her commitment to the well-being of Oklahoma's youth.
Sarah also plays a significant role as a Senior Advisor for the CCJ Women’s Justice Commission, a national initiative dedicated to addressing the unique challenges faced by women in the justice system. Through thorough research and policy advocacy, the commission strives to implement evidence-based reforms that positively impact justice-involved women.
With a strong focus on service and a vision for a hope-centered Oklahoma, Sarah Stitt is dedicated to driving positive change and enhancing the quality of life for families and communities throughout the state. Her initiatives continue to inspire, aiming for a future where hope and support are accessible to all Oklahomans.
